Book of Intentions

This 5-session course will be a journey through selections from IGP's new book The Book of Intentions, a new translation of Habib Muhammad ibn ʿAlawi al-ʿAydarus' Kitab al-Niyyat.

In this course, the instructor will guide us through Kitab al-Niyyat to explore the transformative power of intention (niyyah) in our lives, and to help us through the process of aligning our daily actions with our intention and purpose, such that our every deed is transformed into an act of worship.

The Book of Intentions Course will be structured around the various themes of the text, including visiting the mosque, gathering for prayer, cultivating relationships with fellow believers, the ordinary actions of everyday life, and more. Habib Sa'd provides a detailed set of recommended intentions for each, highlighting the unique rewards associated with each one. Through this course, the instructor will help us to implement these recommendations, in order to imbue our daily lives with sanctity and purpose, and to help us to live in a continuous state of worship in every moment.

Along the way, the instructor will also discuss many of the numerous hadith mentioned in Habib Sa'd's texts, as well as the many insights from the scholars and the tradition, to help us to strengthen our understanding of the book and to reinforce its exhortations to live each moment of our lives with purpose.
